Promotion of Health & Wellness

On behalf of the Lee County Board of Health and Lee County Health Department (LCHD) employees, welcome to our website.  LCHD is a local health department certified through the Illinois Department of Public Health.  Established through a referendum by the citizens of Lee County, LCHD began providing community services in 1947.  Since then, our mission has been the promotion of health and wellness through a variety of programs and services designed to protect the health and safety of individuals residing in and visitors to Lee County.  Programming has evolved over the years to meet the changing needs of our communities. The department holds high standards for its employees in terms of professionalism, dedication, compassion, and providing the highest quality client-centered services.  The department staff works diligently to promote, prevent and protect and appreciates the opportunity to serve.  Please look through our website to learn more about the department, our services, and staff.  Each employee’s email address is listed on the site. Please contact us with any questions, concerns, or suggestions you may have.

Board of Health

The Lee County Board of Health meets the 2nd Tuesday in the months of January, March, May, July, September and November at 6:30 p.m. at the Health Department.  Planned schedule is below.  If changes are made that information will be posted asap.  Call 815-284-3371 Ext: 2100 for confirmation of time and date.

All Board of Health meetings are open to the public and subject to the Open Meetings Act.

LCHD was established in 1946 through a referendum of the citizens of Lee County. As a certified local health department, LCHD is committed to the mission of public health-to assure conditions in which people can be healthy. LCHD carries out the core functions of public health-assessment, policy development and assurance within Lee County.
