Camp D.R.E.A.M. (Diabetes, Recreation, Education, Activities and ME!)

Mission:
The Partnership for a Healthy Lee County (PHLC) Camp for Youth with Diabetes offers an opportunity for kids and teens to manage their diabetes in an educational and enjoyable environment. The camp provides learning & support to youth with diabetes and their families, while promoting healthy nutrition and physical activity for diabetes management. Our goal is to give diabetic youth the information and skills needed to help them pursue their dreams and live active, satisfying lives.

Activities:
In addition to fun games and craft activities, campers will have a chance to learn about blood sugar levels. Campers will learn how food and exercise are linked, as well as learning how to prepare healthy snacks for themselves.

  • Parents and Guardians have an opportunity to participate in peer group sessions during the camp. These sessions will provide helpful information and strategies for supporting diabetic kids and teens.
  • Parents are encouraged to stay the duration of the camp to participate in the sessions. Representatives from meter, pump and insulin companies as well as other local resources will be available for questions.
